The House Across the Street

A Poem by Mckenzie Ycmat

During my video discovery days, I decided to try and make a series where I would ask local poets to let me record them reading one of their favorite poems. I decided it wasn’t fair for me to ask them to do it if I wasn’t comfortable doing it myself.

I wrote this poem based on a house across the street from my parents. They rarely turned their lights on and with the street light in front of their house being dim and scary, it gave me strange inspiration to write about an empty house that is dark and a little scary.
